Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students consist of inner city children that come from low-income families, and some are even homeless. As a teacher in an urban district, I work with four and five-year-old students ranging in levels of development. I have several students with special needs (IEPs) that are currently mainstreamed into my general education classroom. One student in particular currently has a personal aide to help support her in her daily school-related tasks.

My student population consists of inner-city children mainly coming from low-income​ families.

We are a dual-language school where students learn English and Spanish. We are proud to be a national school of character!

My Project

As we commence our school year virtually, it's so important that I instill the importance and joy of reading books. My young students are most engaged when I read stories that include props such as felt characters and felt or magnetic boards. Adding a few new story kits to our lessons would be so fun and a wonderful way to instill a love for books and stories.

The story kits, felt and magnetic boards, books, picture bank and sentence strips will help me teach my students critical thinking by reading them stories, encouraging them to explore the characters' scenarios, learn new vocabulary words using pictures, etc.

I truly feel these materials would be a wonderful addition to our daily lessons and I thank each and every donor who chooses our project to support!
