Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a culturally diverse K-8 Title I school in Brooklyn, NY. For my incoming 8th grade students, the 2020-2021 school year will be their first exposure to being taught a second language in an academic setting. My acting students are interested in pursuing theatre in a performing arts high school setting when they graduate.

My Project

If fully funded these items will provide literary resources for both my incoming 8th-grade Spanish students and my student actors who wish to pursue theatre in high school by auditioning for a performing arts high school.

Both of these items will help my students succeed through their asynchronous and synchronous learning.

By having their own Spanish English Dictionary my 8th grade students will not have to rely on Google Translate to enhance their grammar and spelling skills. Through giving my acting students their own actors’ thesaurus, they can go further into exploring their character in deeper and innovative ways to help make their character more realistic and enhance their audition prep! These items will make a huge difference in my students' education and my students can use these resources for both distance learning and when we return to the classroom as well. These will be their personal books that they can have on them to take notes or highlight information. In their lessons students will not have to rely on technology for their Spanish grammar lessons when they learn how to write and in their theatre lessons when they are exploring their acting tools. Having their personal dictionaries and thesauruses would be a huge benefit as all students do not have access to the same type technology resources and internet capabilities.
