This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Make literacy fun and relevant through manga! Books and Literacy can be fun, but entry into books can be difficult, especially for my low-level readers and English language learners. I'm a teacher in Houston, working at a Title 1 school my whole career. I've seen many students come in grade levels below with some not knowing any English. I believe Manga is an exciting and awesome way to get kids reading. By giving them popular books, as well as a bunch of images, the students can have a good time while improving their literacy skills.
