My Students

My students have exceptionalities that make learning a little more difficult, but all of them are capable of learning and being successful. Each of my students are different and experience various types of challenges, but my goal for all of them is that they develop the ability advocate for their needs and that they develop the skills necessary to do well in high school, college, and their future careers.

One of my favorite things about teaching is seeing my students have “ah-ha” moments where they finally understand a difficult concept.

I strive for all of my students to be hard workers who are always challenging themselves to reach new heights. My students understand that quitting is not an option and that we only learn by making mistakes and growing from them.

My Project

A lot of my students read below grade level, so literacy remediation is extremely important for them. I would like to get some manipulatives and supplies for guided reading groups and other literacy activities.

Being able to read at grade level is one of the strongest indicators of continued success in school.

The supplies in this project would allow me to start doing literacy groups. The goal is to improve their reading comprehension, which will help them do well in all of their classes.

The tabletop dry erase easel will allow me to model sentence structure and other examples for students, and the pack of dry erase boards and markers will be for students to practice. The magnetic letters will be great for modeling and practice, and vowels being a different color will help students recognize vowel sounds. The highlighter tape will be used to identify key ideas and details as we are reading selected texts, and the reading comprehension cubes will be used as a fun way to ask questions focused on the text. Students will use the sticky notes to write down questions and observations about the text as they are reading. The finger lights will be used to help developing readers keep track of their location on the page as they are reading. The digital timer will be used to keep track of time for various activities. Finally, the storage tower will be used to store all of these materials, and being on wheels will allow me to make these supplies mobile so I can bring them to use with students in their content-area classes as needed.

Since I provide support to students in various general education classes, these resources can be used to support all students, and I believe they will really help our students become
