My Students

Take a moment to think about your kindergarten experience. Did you just get a feeling of nostalgia, too? Kindergarten was an amazing and fun time that taught you the foundations of reading, writing, and math. My students are getting that same experience, but they are in need of materials that will help them develop in to amazing readers and mathematicians!

The children I teach are energetic, wonderful, hardworking students.

They impress me everyday with their awesome attitudes, and desire to learn. We are a full day kindergarten class at a Title I school. Most of our students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program. The student population is 33% Caucasian, 26% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 11% African American, 28% other.

My Project

Research indicates that children learn best in an environment which allows them to explore, discover, and play. It is also closely tied to the development of cognitive, socio-emotional, and physical behaviors. It is the most developmentally appropriate way for a child to learn!

In our class, we love to play!

That is why we are requesting these materials. Specifically, we are requesting sight word puzzles, and digraph puzzles and other helpful resources that will develop our knowledge of sight words, and reading comprehension. The math resources we need such as the counting to 100 puzzle, snap and slide number bonds, and pop and add to 30 will give us a solid understanding of number sense, and will help us become the best mathematicians we can be!

The resources we are asking for will be used during our literacy station and math rotation time. During that time the students get a chance to explore the resources. Our class prefers this type of learning because it offers multiple modalities of learning such as visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic.
