My Students

My students are amazing! They are excited to learn and work hard to excel beyond the limitations of their neighborhood.

They love to learn, create and play and are inspiring to all who work with them!

My second graders all come from low-income areas and often do not have the necessary resources at home to extend the school day beyond our classroom. They are hard workers and do everything they can to be successful! My second graders are absolutely fabulous kids!

My Project

Have you ever done something over and over again and it still didn't come out the same each time? Well that's what happens when you keep doing the same lessons year after year. I do my best to bring new and exciting lessons to my students. This year we are embracing small group instruction more than ever! Over half of my instructional day is spent with students working collaboratively; they're taking charge of their own learning and wow are we seeing results!

Small group literacy instruction is helping my students to see that they are in control of their success!

They are working with me more, working with their classmates more, and learning how to read and write more effectively and more efficiently than ever before.

We are requesting materials that would enhance our small groups and centers: Intervention Kits, Comprehension Teaching Centers, Find the Evidence Clips, and many other tools that will allow me to put my students in the driver's seat. When the students are engaged and they believe in what they're doing, their learning and their abilities soar to new heights! With your help, my students could go from eager readers to exceptional literacy geniuses!
