My students need a lot of love, care and support from teachers. Our school is in a poverty-stricken area, where many students do not have the necessary supplies or tools they need to succeed. Building a warm, safe, inviting classroom community and the environment is so important for my students.
My students are kind, caring and ready to learn.
They are continuing to learn how to best communicate with friends and prevent bullying in our classroom. Classroom community is still something we are continuing to build throughout the year, not just in our class, but school-wide. We also strive to provide differentiated, culturally-responsive instruction and need more resources to do that.
My Project
I will be teaching fifth grade for the first time next year, and I have very little supplies for small group instruction. These ELA games will help me provide relevant and differentiated activities during small group time, while making kids feel as if they are having fun. In addition, these games target specific skills that students need to master by the end of the year, as well as skills that are tested on state assessments. Since we will be doing a lot of test preparation, we will also need privacy dividers for when we take practice tests. Please consider donating!
