This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is full of eager learners who are excited to improve their language arts skills, but they need resources that make learning both fun and engaging. With the support of this project, I aim to supply my students with a variety of interactive board games and a diverse selection of books to read. These resources will not only strengthen their reading abilities, but also spark their creativity and encourage a love for literature.

This project is deeply important to me because I believe every student deserves a learning experience that sparks excitement and curiosity.

I am passionate about teaching in a way that makes students eager to learn, grow, and challenge themselves. I have found that providing my students with some “unconventional” ways of practicing our standards/objectives helps them take ownership of their learning. I do this by taking an average board game (like Sorry!) and adding in a language arts component. For example, in order to earn your turn in the game, you must first find the main idea of a passage. In addition, I feel it is vital to provide students with novels that they actually WANT to read. Some of my students’ favorite moments in class have been when they are allowed to curl up with a book and a stuffed animal and get lost in a book.

By offering engaging resources like games and novels, I can create a dynamic classroom where students not only develop essential language arts skills, but also build a lasting love for reading and learning, all while having fun! My goal is to inspire my students to reach their full potential and show them that learning can be both enjoyable and rewarding.
