This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the best in the city! They are curious and thoughtful and love exploring new ideas. They are self-motivated and are always ready to discover new things. My students are articulate and have amazing conversations in class.

I teach at a Title I school in New York where most of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Despite the hardships they face at home, my students are always eager to learn about the world they live in. They amaze me daily.

My Project

I am asking for a variety of writing materials to replenish our literacy center. We need folders, highlighters, pens, pencils, and most important, an electric sharpener.

As in any situation, it is important to be organized.

We will use the different color folders to organize work by subject. The multi-color highlighters will be used to annotate their writing. The different colored post it sticky notes will be used during independent reading. Students are encouraged to make jots as they read. Writing on a post it is the least distractive for students. They can jot and then organize their thoughts after.
