My Students

If you walk into our classroom, you will notice technology is not an event, it is a part of our learning every day. My students utilize our current technology resources but are yearning for more in order to have more opportunities for use.

My classroom is filled with 21 passionate and energized learners.

They have a quest for knowledge that has surpassed any other previous class. They are motivated by each other to continue to learn new things or expand on the knowledge they already have. They are curious and have many questions about their learning and the world. They want to know why things are the way they are and how things work. They are not afraid to get messy and make mistakes in order to learn. Our school is located in an extremely fast growing district and the number of low income students is steadily on the rise. Many of the students in my classroom only have access to computer technology, resources for learning, and books only while they are at school. The classroom is a safe haven for them to learn freely and have access to many different types of resources for learning.

My Project

The main focus for adding iPads in our classroom is to improve literacy. We plan to use them during our Daily 5 rotations in many different ways. We will use them for working with words by using various word building apps. We will use them while reading to self and create audio books so we can listen to each other and give each other feedback. We will use them to create Book Reviews to motivate others to read the same books. Our primary goal is to be able to use them while working on research projects. We plan to use them to research different topics such as animals and people in order to create reports to teach others.

As I stated before, many of my students only have access to learning resources while they are at school.

Adding iPads to our classroom will allow them a new path of learning they do not have access to very often. Our classroom will learn about collaborating with others as well as using technology as a way to communicate what they have learned.
