This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

To foster my students' creativity and literacy skills, I’ve introduced Art Journal Fridays. These supplies and materials will provide them with opportunities for hands-on, interactive learning experiences that go beyond traditional classroom activities.

Over the years, I’ve noticed many students facing challenges with creativity and literacy and by encouraging them to express themselves through journaling, my goal is to help them unlock their innate creativity, expand their thinking, and develop their ability to articulate thoughts and ideas effectively.

Using these materials not only enhances hands-on learning and nurtures creativity but also supports the development of critical social-emotional skills. Research has consistently shown that engaging in art can significantly strengthen emotional expression, self-awareness, and empathy. Art journaling provides a safe and encouraging space for students to grow both academically and personally.
