My Students

Let's read about baseball! Help my students learn the facts about baseball through content area books and stories involving baseball!

The students LOVE to read!

They will pick up a book on just about anything! My students are loving and caring third graders. Most of my students are learning English as a Second Language. They are just learning how to read and writing in English. They come from low income housing where they all receive school breakfast and lunch. They love to learn and participate in the classroom.

My Project

I am requesting classroom library books with baseball themes and content books teaching baseball facts. These books will be used to supplement both our fiction and nonfiction units of study in reading and writing. These books will be used by the students daily in the classroom and at home. Students in my class have individual "book baggies" where they keep several books they are reading for the week. These books will help build our classroom library!

This project will improve my ESL students' background knowledge on an exciting topic.

They will be engaged with these books, because we don't have any like them in our classroom library. I know they will become better readers having these books in our class.
