Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are kindergarten students that are eager to learn! They are curious, energetic and thrive on hands on learning. They are a very diverse class all with individual needs. They are hard workers who deserve the best. Being five and six years old means learning through play. We use a play based curriculum so that students can get the best hands on education. Many of my students can not sit for a long period of time to learn and listen.

My classroom is a place where ALL students can learn no matter what.

I plan with students strengths and weaknesses in mind so that I am meeting their maximum learning potential. My students come from all over the city of Boston and have a wide range of backgrounds. It is my job to give them the education that they deserve and to develop life long habits for learning.

My Project

Books on Cd are very beneficial to young learners. The ability to listen to books on cd will have a great impact on my students. They will be able to be alive with the story and focus on the sounds of the words without interruption. Students will be able to model fluent reading as well as work on their listening skills.

When listening to books, the story comes alive with the narrator.

Students are more engaged and more eager to listen to a story with sound effects and music. It becomes more interesting and hands on for the students. They learn how to use and take care of the equipment too.

Having a listening center in our classroom will bring opportunities for cooperative play as well and story telling and acting out. The possibilities are endless when students are engaged and listening to stories!
