My Students

I teach in a New York City public school. My kindergarten students come from homes with financial hardship. My students come in speaking very little to no English. They rely on listening to peers, teachers, and resources to learn.

My students are fortunate enough to have access to various types of technology including computers and iPads.

My school is using this to supplement teachers' instruction and to assess the students. The students are lacking access to headphones to be able to use these resources.

My Project

The headphones will be used daily in the classroom. The students will each have their own pair of headphones that are special to them, something they can call their own.

By receiving these headphones, the students will be able to use online resources to help them learn and grow without distraction.

They will have access to online books, lessons, and other resources to expand their language and knowledge. I know that having individual headphones will make each child feel special and furthermore it will provide the English Language Learners with the opportunity to enhance their listening skills and develop their language.
