My Students

My students are the future of our nation. They are studying the past to make our nation and our world a better place for all.

I teach 180 students over 6 classes, 3 of those classes contain autistic students.

The other three classes have students with IEPs. Besides the learning differences, my student population is extremely diverse both ethnically and socioeconomically.

The high rate of special education students, 60%, makes every class different. We use different approaches in teaching every lesson.

My Project

My special education and general education students will use the earbuds in class as they investigate history. This investigation includes listening to historical speeches to feel the power behind the words.

The earbuds we need will allow students to sit in a station or independently and examine video clips and music of a time period without disturbing other students.

We do not just tell students what happened in the past, but make them investigate the past. This makes them active participants in learning. Finally, the storage bins will allow us to keep the earbuds safe and monitor which ones are clean and ready for use.
