Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students are second language learners who are highly motivated. Some of them are recent immigrants, while others have been here between 2-5 years. They are not from an affluent background and their parents struggle to make ends meet.

Most of my students qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch.

Some of them do not have access to the internet at home.

My students are working to achieve the "American dream." Therefore, I would like to provide the tools necessary for my students to be able to compete in this technological world. With your assistance, I am positive that my students can achieve their goal of not just learning English but also becoming productive citizens of this great nation.

My Project

All students want is to read proficiently. However, they all learn in different ways. These headphones will give my students the tools to assist them in becoming proficient readers. They will be able to work on all the components of reading at their independent level. My students will also be able to access reading materials, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.

During my Reading Block, students are expected to complete an online reading assignment.

This requires the use of headphones. Most of my students are unable to purchase headphones so completing this assignment is challenging. Once they have headphones, this aforementioned obstacle will be removed. I am confident that my students' comprehension level will soar once we receive these headphones.
