Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a special education class of 1st through 3rd grade students. My students attend a Title I school in a low socioeconomic community. We live in a rural community of single family homes. A few of my students do not own a family car and rely on friends or public transportation to get around. All of the students receive free/reduced-price breakfast, lunch and dinner.

My class is made up of 12 active little boys and girls who see life from a unique perspective.

They are polite and caring individuals that are kind and gracious to all they meet. We learn with a hands on approach in the classroom (i.e. they take care of my two guinea pigs that are in the classroom.)

I enjoy every minute that I spend with them.

My Project

My students have access to iPads and computers in the classroom. These iPads and computers are used to access the digital portion of our curriculum. They are also used in our class for educational games to reward excellent behavior. In order for my students to access this digital curriculum, they need to headphones so that only they can hear what is happening on their screen.

Noise cancelling headphones will help my students to access the digital curriculum without disturbing their neighbors.

The comfortable ear pieces on these headphones will help my students that have sensory issues to feel comfortable and safe.
