Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students deserve all different types of reading experiences to enhance their love of reading. Listening to books on CD will provide my students with the ability to start reading on their own, and it will also enrich my students' multi-sensory experiences with readers.

"Books fall open, and we fall in." The magic of listening to a beautiful storyteller is part of the journey of learning to read and becoming a student who loves books.

A listening center has so many academic benefits for students. It models fluent reading, helps students decode unfamiliar words, introduces new vocabulary, and introduces new genres that may not be covered in our curriculum.

Audiobooks provided during the listening center time will give my students an essential introduction to listening, which is a skill that they must master to learn to read. It also helps the students focus on the sounds of words read without interruption, exposes them to rich vocabulary, and provides a model of fluent reading
