My Students

My rambunctious group of second graders is full of excitement and ready to learn! Every day, they come to class full of questions, ready to grow their brains and work their hardest.

Their families come from countries all over the world, including Mexico, Ethiopia, and Pakistan.

They speak many languages and bring many unique experiences to our classroom. Many of them qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.

As their teacher, my job is to grow their love of learning and to provide them with the essential skills they'll need for the rest of their educational careers.

My Project

Listening to audiobooks is a fantastic way to build students' reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Not only can they listen to fluent readers, but they can also work with texts right at their instructional level to maximize their learning.

Having a variety of texts available ensures student engagement, as they can choose a story that interests them.

From dinosaurs and chickens to terrifying substitute teachers, these books span a variety of interesting topics that are sure to captivate my second graders. These books will add excitement to our daily literacy block, helping students to develop a lifelong love of learning.
