Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
"Sitting still is overrated. It makes sense for the opera or for meditating, but in most classrooms and child care centers, it's given far more honor than it deserves. Children need to move." ~Tom Hunter, National Association for the Education of Young Children.
For some of my students, this is their first experience in school.
In kindergarten it is extremely important to build foundational skills that children will carry on for the rest of their educational career. My students love to listen to stories, play, have fun, and be engaged in hands-on activities.
My Project
Being beginning readers students learn about print and book awareness, such as, reading left to write, recognizing that letters make sounds that form words, which direction to hold and flip through a book, and more! A listening center will help model these skills for students through following along word for word while hearing the story being read aloud.
Students will gain confidence and daily practice through the use of a listening center where they will follow along to stories being read to them.
Students will be prompted when to turn pages and recognize sight words and developmentally appropriate vocabulary words. Students will be assisted in sounding out more challenging vocabulary words by listening to the stories.
