This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are just now exploring literature and finding their love for reading books. Since most of them start the year off not knowing how to read they sometimes get discouraged during independent reading.

In my classroom my students learn to love books and appreciate them.

They are enthusiastic and motivated because they want so badly to be big boys and girls. To them being able to read is what sets them apart from the "babies". We are an inner city school that doesn't have all the resources we would like to have. Having the materials we would like is not always possible.

My Project

Having this new listening station would allow my students to model read during independent time. They will also be able to hear themselves read a book for self assessment. This station will help with students fluency, listening skills, and will expose them to a variety of story structures, all while fostering independence and complimenting content curriculum. The benefits are endless!

I really believe my students would find this listening station motivational and fun.

It would be encouraging for them and would add so many teaching possibilities for me across the curriculum. Please help me bring the words to live. Help me make them listen up!
