My Students

Everyone deserves to hear a great story! Please help my students enjoy listening to books on CD during our reading workshop centers.

My classroom is made up of 28 eager, energetic, and hard-working second graders.

Our school is considered medium poverty with many students receiving free or reduced lunches. Even though our school and school district are going through some tough financial times, we have still managed to achieve the title of being an "Excellent" school. This shows the hard working attitude of our students and teachers! Our school is also in partnership with Sean Covey's "7 Habits of Happy Kids." We teach our students how to be leaders both in the classroom and in life!

My Project

Listening to the books on CD will help my students to build fluency in their own oral reading and will also help them hear and understand what it means to read with expression. In second grade, this is a major area that we work on throughout the year. Listening to stories read aloud is a great way to help build these skills. These books and Cd's will greatly help build their oral reading skills while also providing enjoyment for them at the same time!

This project is very important to our class because it will enable all students to hear great stories read aloud.

Not all students have books at home or have opportunities to listen to stories read aloud. These books on CD will allow for all of my students to enjoy quality stories and help them develop a lifelong love of reading!
