This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
What if you were excited about picking out a great book and could not read it? Many of my students struggle to read complete books on their own, so a listening center would benefit my class.
My students are hard working, eager, and strong willed.
My students live in the inner city of Baltimore and many are not exposed to reading every day. My students face daily obstacles and with your help can over come their odds and read on and above grade level by the end of this year. I know my students will gain an appreciation for reading after listening to great books on tape or cd. High expectations and success are the only options!
My Project
Students learn best by having fun. By, having a listening center (books on tape/cd) in my room all of my students will be able to increase their fluency, comprehension, phonics, and appreciation for reading. My students can listen to a book and follow along and eventually they will read it on their own. When a student feels confident about their reading there is no stopping them! Many students dislike reading because they are struggling but a listening center can strengthen and improve all of my students reading abilities.
Your donations will be greatly appreciated.
I am a hard-working second year teacher that wants all students to succeed and be the best they can be. Please support my listening center and support a future of students that love to read!
