Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with two different groups of 3rd graders specifically in literacy. I work in a population that includes a high percentage of English Language Learners, as well as low income families. Many of these students do not come with supplies to school let alone are able to donate to the classroom. Each student is a hard working, sweet student that deserves every opportunity to improve their reading. Being able to hear their own reading with a recording device will give them the ability to identify and fix their own mistakes.

My Project

During literacy centers I have a station that focuses on fluency. This is a station where students use an app to record their own reading. Afterwards, they are able to re-listen to the recording to help make adjustments.

With a noisy classroom, these requested Plantronics headsets

will allow students to focus fully without background noise getting in the way. Although I do have the program, I do not have head sets that students can use that will work to record. Without these specific headsets, students will not be able to record their voices, and therefore not be able to listen to their own reading. With these headsets so much more is possible.
