My Project

My students come from a school with a high number of students qualifying for free and reduced-priced lunches. These students struggle with many things that distract from learning such as hunger and absent parents, but when they arrive at school they are ready to learn. They love to have fun and look forward to school every day.

"Your students’ life experiences are a rich source of background knowledge and potential narrative strategy for you to tap in your classroom.” This quote sums up how I, the teacher, must use the students' life experiences to help teach.

My students have a lot of different experiences that normally cause a distraction to them, but it's my job to turn these experiences into learning.

These headphones will make a huge difference in my classroom. We use digital assessments that require students to listen on the computers. These assessments allow us to direct our teaching to the most important areas of weakness. Students also need the headphones to participate in our intervention program, iReady. With a large ELL population, it is so important for these students to hear things read to them. Many of them can comprehend spoken language but struggle with the written language. I think a durable set of headphones would be amazing.
