A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Students in our classroom come from many types of homes. Our school is placed on the outside of a major city. We are the oldest school in our district, the smallest, and the one who seems to always get the bad reputation that has been layered on for many decades. However, my kids love their school and their friends. This is their home. They have a zest for life! Their smiles are contagious. We are a family no matter what. That is the environment we create together in my class so that we can deal and get away from the harsh realities of home. My students deserve all of the essential tools to learn just as others do. We are a Title 1 campus which means almost all of my students require free or reduced lunch assistance.
My Project
This Hue HD pro document camera will engage students in what they are learning from an up close perspective. Many of my students need to be able to see up close what I am teaching them. In addition, this will give me the chance to present hands-on projects projected on the board. I will be able to record and take pictures of lessons and projects. For students who are out sick, I can record my lesson and send it to them so they can watch at home. Also, students will be able to use it as an animation station for retelling books they have just read in class to record or present live in front of the class!
Headphones are essential yet a rare find in our classroom.
Our campus does not provide headphones for iPads. It is considered a school supply that students can buy themselves and bring to school. While some students do bring them, they are usually not of good quality so they break. Also, this is normally their only pair of headphones so they bring them to and from school. This purchase would mean that I will have a permanent set of headphones in my classroom for all of my students. This will ensure my students are able to hear and fulfill the requirements of their time on the iPad during Math and Reading blocks. Students use apps like Accelerated Reader, Starfall, and BrainPop.
