Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Social Studies students range from grades 6th-8th with a wide level of abilities. They are very active and vibrant and are multi-sensory learners. My focus is to offer them a variety of learning experiences that are rigorous and student-centered. In order to accomplish my goal, I need to offer these students experiences that are intrinsically motivated by technology.

However, they don't always have access to technology.

I'm seeking donations that will allow us to have 10-15 Chromebooks or iPad Minis in order to access information on their own to complete their assignments and improve their understanding and comprehension of challenging topics and concepts in Social Studies.

Our school is in the most wonderful part of Fort Greene Brooklyn in a diverse and vibrant community. It has many points of interest and students are always inquiring about our neighborhood, this technology would allow them to research in a more independent and meaningful manner.

My Project

Headphones for History! Please help my students to listen to Primary and Secondary source documents. My students some of these documents difficult to read. The headphones will allow them to listen while learning to pronounce difficult vocabulary words.

At times it may be challenging for my students to stay focused when there’s so many distractions the headphones will help them to be on task.

Listening to difficult documents will encourage them to listen to how words are pronounce difficult vocabulary. Headphones would facilitate their reading comprehension as well as their overall confidence.
