My Project

PreK is the foundational block for a child's love of learning. It is such an exciting time for them because this is their first time ever being in a school like setting. The curriculum is comprised of learning centers that students select daily based on their preference. One of those centers of choice is the reading and listening center. This center allows them to listen to books while at the same time expose them to vocabulary development and various sentence structure. Audiobooks will allow my students to hear explicit letter sounds, engage in text, comprehension, and critical thinking skills. Currently, my students are able to look at books but are not able to read yet, therefore they lose interest quickly.

The ultimate goal for this center is for my students to have the opportunity to independently listen to a book during centers with little assistance from the teacher.
