My Project

I am asking for a TPT Gift card for digital pdf of nonfiction books for me to put together to build a classroom library of nonfiction decodable books. What does decodable books do for my students? It allows them to find books that they can read of interest at an early age. It allows them build their vocabulary and background knowledge through books regarding science and social studies. It allows students to not only build their fluency skills, but ultimately their comprehension skills. Having a classroom library of my own AND paper books to send home to my students to build their home libraries will get more books into our local community. The books being sent home for students to read will also expand their knowledge of the world around them.

Students need to be reading and own nonfiction books to expand their knowledge to the world around them through science and social studies topics!

Multiple readings will not only build their fluency, but they will have a better understanding of language semantics in the English language.

Currently, I have five different languages spoken in my classroom. Giving my students access to nonfiction books will help build the bridge of foundational language acquisition to their own background knowledge.
