Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine never seeing an elephant? Rhino? Giraffe? My students have not yet discovered the joy of going on a field trip to the local zoo. I would like to take them.
My kids are very eager and smart 5 year old students.
I work in a Title One school in California where they do not get some of the same opportunities that other children do. I would like to provide these curious kids with the awesome adventure to the zoo.
My Project
I would like to give my students a chance to study, experience and enjoy real zoo animals. They will spend the entire month of April learning about monkeys, lions, giraffes, flamingos, bears, elephants and other zoo animals. After the unit of study, I would like them to get the real experience of the animals.
When I take these kids to the zoo for the first, and maybe only time, they will have a memory and schema to last a lifetime.
There is nothing better than watching kids learn and explore while enjoying an experience.
