Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a public school in the Bronx with an incredible and diverse group of middle school learners. The majority of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, receive free lunch, and lack exposure and resources that can help them grow to be college and career ready. Although many of them fall in the lowest one-third for reading and math in the city and state, they yearn to be taught skills and strategies to stay on a path for success.

Despite their backgrounds and any obstacles they face, my students come to school each and every day willing and ready to become the great leaders of tomorrow.

They need the support and engagement within the school classroom to help realize their true potential.

My Project

In our 21st Century culture, students must be equipped with the tools and skills to develop fluency in using technology to learn. In our science classroom, we strive to provide as many STEM lessons as possible.

With this laptop, students will be able to connect to our classroom SMART board and complete virtual dissections, interactive lab simulations, and create models.

To help prepare my students for college and career readiness I strive to integrate technology and student-led learning on a daily basis. With this new laptop, students can design and run lessons themselves, create engaging review games, and motivate their peers to strive for success. There are many obstacles my students face on a daily basis, but keeping them interested and determined to learn and prosper will help them stay on their paths to greatness.

This new laptop will be utilized daily and provide so much joy and excitement for my amazing science stars!
