My Students

I teach six- and seven-year-old students who have unique talents and abilities. Most of the students are classified as gifted and talented. There is a lot of differentiation in STEM learning that goes on because of their learning styles and their different abilities which varies by subjects and content areas. The biggest standout about my students is how they treat and refer to themselves, “We are a class family.”

The use of technology is a great leveler for the different learning styles of my students.

They are willing and able to share more, be better communicators and team players when technology is involved in their learning. My students are very patient and innovative young people. They are very creative and expressive with their drawings. Having access to more technology will help enhance these skills and make them lifelong goals.

My Project

My students are required to learn how to test on computers to determine their reading and math levels. This means they have to be assigned to the class laptops and desktops at different times. They need to be able to do this independently and quietly so that the other students can still be engaged in their learning activities without the distraction from the noise from the computers.

This testing leads to differentiated instruction and follow up assignment on the internet for which they need the headphones to be able to listen.

Having these headphones will ensure that more students will be able to use the laptops and control the volume to whatever their comfort level is.
