I teach the 15 most dedicated students in all of the United States! My kindergarten class in our high need community is unbelievably invested in working to make sure their brains grow bigger this year...to become fantastic first graders!
Unfortunately, our classroom (or "roomlet" as we call it) is too small to fit enough tables or desks for all students to comfortably work on one lesson simultaneously. This means group instruction must be done on the carpet. With these white boards and markers, students will have a hard surface to do guided and independent practice all seated together on the carpet!
All we need is a class set of white boards- one side unlined for math practice, the other lined for writing and phonics practice as well as a set of markers to use throughout the year. As simple as it sounds, using a white board and marker instead of pencil and paper gets my students even more excited about learning. I am compelled to take this excitement and fuel it into something even bigger...we are already talking about what colleges everyone will attend when they graduate high school! This proposal will directly influence and improve group instruction in all subject areas in our classroom, and encourage students to work even harder to meet our learning goals!
Your help will ensure that my students continue to be excited about learning, while also making group instruction possible in a classroom with limited space and resources! Your support does make a difference and will be greatly appreciated.
