This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Cell phones can be a significant distraction pulling students' attention away from their studies, activities, and interactions with peers. Cell phones are a consistent interruption for our students. They are so easily distracted with them, they do not even realize they are distracted. Is is every irritating having to compete with cell phones when one is teaching and wanting student engagement in the classroom (not on their phone). Not to mention, the academic dishonesty that arises on occasion from cell phone use. Students are less likely to be checking their cell phones or playing games if the phones are put away. Often this is not the case. Some students refuse to put their cell phones away. Cell phone lockers provide a designated, secure, space for students to store their phones during class, reducing the temptation to use them.

Cell phone lockers create a conducive learning environment that fosters student engagement and participation.

By implementing a cell phone locker system, I aim to cultivate a culture of attentiveness and focus in our class, enabling my students to be present and cultivate a culture of attentiveness and focus on history.
