Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher at a school that is located in the heart of Westchester (a local Hispanic community) in Miami. I pull out students from the general education classroom for Reading/Language Arts and Mathematics. I teach various different grade levels: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. At times throughout the school day, I teach multiple grades at once.

My students come from different backgrounds.

They have different races, socioeconomic status', and are on different educational levels. The majority of my students have Specific Learning Disabilities and are English Language Learners (ELLs). They require different types of learning activities in order to engage and help them understand the concepts. These 7, fun-loving students would enjoy different types of learning activities in order to promote and aid their understanding.

My Project

In Ms. C's class, "Every student is a star." It is my goal to make sure that all my students learn during the day despite any limitations that they may have. I am requesting many different types of supplies, which will be used daily during classroom activities. Some of the supplies are office materials, such as copy paper, expo markers. I have also asked for cleaning supplies to help keep a clean and safe classroom.

As a teacher, I am continually looking for activities that engage and stimulate hands-on learning.

I usually teach 2 grades at once. In order to promote independent learning and provide supplemental practice, I am requesting different learning games that can be used during Reading and Language Arts centers. My students also require simple stories to practice reading connected text. Practice books can also be used to extend their learning during Math!

These supplies will help my students access the content, learn at their level, and enjoy learning. With your help, my students will be able to see themselves as the stars that they truly are!
