Help me give my students a photo studio where they can photograph using a backdrop set and lights, print pictures with a Canon Pixma printer and photo paper and a table to evaluate their images.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are always eager to learn new ways of making art, they are curious and full of imagination. I work at a K-8 center and as the elementary art teacher at my school, I have introduced photography to my 5th grade students with lessons on cyanotypes and photo- transfers.
Next school year, I will add a new creative photography class to our middle school curriculum which will broaden their skills in photography and mixed media as 6th grade students.
The school has already purchased a few cameras for the class but we will also need more items to meet the requirements of a full photo curriculum and produce better photographers.
I want to create a photo corner in my classroom that will have a backdrop set and lights for shooting portraits, a portable light box for product photography, a good photo printer with different kinds of photo papers and specialized ink and a table that will be used to evaluate student images. Students need to know that printing a photograph has as many challenges as taking a photograph.
The experiences of shooting, printing and analyzing photographs will make them stronger photographers and produce better photographs.
