Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

“Mirrors have three purposes. To show you who you are. To show you who you were. And to show you who you want to be.” –Dan Pearce Using iPads to temporarily record and playback footage of physical performance can have a huge impact on learning, skill development, and confidence. iPads are a fantastic learning tool that can still help build 21st century skills in a way that is more practical and beneficial in our unique setting.

The resources requested in this project will open up new doors for my students.

The iPad will be used to temporarily record and playback students’ technique while performing things like a push-up or throwing a ball. It would be placed on the tripod and temporarily record students. And with things like the SlowMotion app, it will provide delayed playback so students can critique their own performance. Providing visual feedback to students can have a tremendous impact on student learning. They will be more successful in identifying their own strengths and areas of improvement, a very important skill to have.

It is really quite simple - How often do we check a mirror to make sure everything looks okay? It might be after putting on an outfit or checking our teeth after a meal. We like to see what things look like so we can make adjustments. I truly believe that if my students are able to view themselves while performing various physical tasks, they will be more successful in identifying strengths and areas of improvement. Ultimately, it will help to build excitement, confidence and skill development.
