Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

March 13 our school was closed down due to COVID. It was sudden and unexpected. Together, we persevered and we made the best of our distance learning experience. We just learned that the 2020-2021 school year will begin remotely.

I am blessed to teach 20 second grade gifted students who are in the EFL program (Extended Foreign Language), in a neighborhood school in an urban part of Florida.

My students have a wide variety of learning needs and challenges. My students are eager to learn. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention.

My Project

A document camera is an item that’s equally valuable remotely or in-person: a document camera lets me share books and other students’ work from a distance now, but will be a huge asset with in-classroom learning down the line, too, when it will let students present their own work to the rest of the class.

The possibilities are endless!

I can turn the flex head doc cam up to use as a web cam to record student-created speeches, teacher created lessons, and more! Show-and-tell is made easy by allowing students to share under the doc cam. It gives every student a front row seat as we use math manipulatives together and then allow them to work with their own manipulatives at their desk. The list goes on and on. Like I said before, the possibilities are endless!
