Children's Theater Company (CTC) , "Neighborhood Bridges" is a critical literacy program that uses theatre, storytelling, and creative writing to empower students to become the narrators of their own lives and the world around them.
Students will be encouraged to think critically and work collaboratively to solving problems as they imagine and create their own original short - theatre pieces.
Third grade classroom teachers will collaborate with the CTC Teaching Artist to develop a unit of inquiry and an extended learning experience that integrates Performing Arts, Literacy and Science.
The CTC residency goals for students include:

• Students will work collaboratively to create an original theatre piece to share.
• Students will explore how physical and technical elements of theatre and staging can enhance and impact the overall mood and presentation.
• Students will view and analyze a live theatre performance of The Hobbit at CTC.
