I work with AMAZING students who are differently abled.
I am their performing arts teacher. We focus on dance, yoga, gymnastics, and total body fitness. We share the school with 3 other schools so we have limited resources and space. Currently, we do not have access to the gym. Thus, I am using my classroom space as a fitness space for our kids - I want to provide them with a fun tangible fitness room where they can train for dance and gymnastics. I used my own money to provide the dance and yoga experience, we are now only missing the equipment for gymnastics.
Here’s a breakdown of why each item is necessary:
Flood Lights: Our school stage has no working lights, making it difficult for the audience to see students during performances. These lights will highlight their hard work and talents, ensuring they’re seen and celebrated.
Balance Mat: This tool is crucial for developing motor skills, coordination, and balance, especially for students with physical and developmental challenges. It builds confidence and strength in a safe way.
Gymnastics Bar: This provides opportunities for students to improve upper body strength and gross motor skills, helping with body awareness and coordination in a fun and engaging way.
Safety Mats: Ensuring safety during all activities is a top priority. These mats provide a cushioned surface to protect students from injuries during physical exercises or gymnastics.
Skip Swing Ball: This promotes cardiovascular health and improves timing, balance, and coordination while being an inclusive and exciting activity for all ability levels.
Cheese Wedge Mat: Will enable students to practice flips and rolls while building strength, flexibility, and confidence in a safe and fun way.
