We have the lights and action but no camera. I teach over 400 4th and 5th graders general music. My school is in a high-need rural district with no budget for my music classroom. I fundraise every year so I can purchase instruments and music.

My school has one digital camera for use by 30 faculty and staff so access is very limited. First priority is given to teachers in the regular classroom. I am able to use it only twice a year. Only adults are allowed to touch it.

I need a digital camcorder for the music program at my school. This would allow my students to have experience with using a technological devise they may otherwise not have access. I would like for the students to create their own videos for others to see as well as analyze their own musical performances. We create a wonderful music experience in the classroom. I would like my students to have a record of it by filming with the camcorder and then sharing it in school assemblies, our school website and possibly on youtube with parent permission. This will benefit my students by allowing them to experience another form of art through media as well as improve their musical performances through peer critique and self-analysis. They may also be able to enter their creations in various competitions sponsored by music and art councils and give them a sense of accomplishment and higher self-esteem.

Your support for this project will make it possible for my students to experiment with creating music videos of their own. They will learn the basic art of filming and it will help to motivate them to improve their musical performances. With out your help this will not be possible.
