Help me give my students a classroom that inspires them to dance! With these final lights we'll have every wall covered in color and a disco ball to get the party started!
I must have the best job in the world because every week I get to show 560 amazing kindergarten through fourth graders the joy found in making music. These kids aren't afraid of trying new things or taking risks; they come to my classroom every week ready to sing, say, play, move to, and create all kinds of beautiful music. They are smart, thoughtful, creative, energetic, and talented, and they are developing a love for music that I hope will follow them the rest of their lives. In short, my students rock!
My Project
Last November I submitted a DonorsChoose project to completely transform the music room with new lighting for dance parties. A couple weeks later, and thanks to the generous support of our families and friends, that project was fully funded, and all of our materials have finally arrived. Some adjustments had to be made due to unavailable supplies, but we now have a fantastic setup with fully adjustable LED light strips, black lights, laser lights, and flood lights. All of these work perfectly through my iPad, and I've been able to program them to even respond to my voice. The kids have had an absolute blast participating in our weekly dance parties, and I've had fun showing them how they work and even giving them the controls.
I believe that our dance parties have been a highlight of my student's time in music class, something they'll never forget, and I'm so thankful to see this dream come true!
After my original project was funded I received several additional gift cards to DonorsChoose, and to use those effectively I decided to make this second project. The final funds we receive here will be used for two spotlights to shine on a disco ball, and for patio lights to brighten a wall that needs a little more love.
