This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently an 8th grade middle school teacher in a high needs New York area. My students are General Education and Special Education learners and love using the SmartBoard. They are fully engaged and motivated throughout their class session.

My students work hard and often support their mothers and fathers by running household errands and watching younger siblings.

Unfortunately, another thing that my students have in common is that their families are struggling financially. Within my school the majority of the students qualify for the state's free or reduced meal program. Due to the budget cuts schools are facing, teachers in my school are no longer able to personally give each student the resources they desire. We are lucky to have SmartBoard equipment in our school, and it would be heartbreaking to not be able to put it to use because the bulb needs to be replaced.

My Project

As part of the new core curriculum, students are required to understand the many ideas and concepts from all areas of literature and writing. I love using the SmartBoard, and the activities keep my students fully engaged and eager to participate. I can display diagrams on current topics. Students can come up and share their answers. We can once again explore online interactives together as a class. Supplying my classroom with a replacement bulb for our SmartBoard projector would be a blessing for our classroom.

Please support my project so I can introduce this great multimedia educational tool to my students.

It would be such a shame to actually have the equipment available in the classroom and not be able to use it because of a burnt out projector bulb. It may seem expensive but this resource lasts about 6 years and can be used every day. With your help we can take full advantage of our school's SmartBoard equipment once again.
