My Students

I teach the most amazing children in the world! I teach military servicemembers' children who are full of energy and inquisitive. This unique and diverse, yet resilient, population often have unmet needs. I strive to offer them a caring, supportive, and loving educational environment that engages their minds and gives them a passion for learning that will extend beyond the walls of my classroom for a lifelong love of learning! This often requires creating experiences for my students to fill any academic gaps often found in such a highly mobile population while making learning come to life.

My Project

The Ron Clark Academy (RCA) is a highly-acclaimed, nonprofit school located in Southeast Atlanta. With the opportunity to observe the master teachers at RCA, I will learn more techniques to engage learners.

RCA has received national and international recognition for its success in educating students with academic rigor, passion, and creativity balanced with character education.

At the Ron Clark Academy I will have the opportunity to do classroom observations and participate in hands-on workshops. These workshops will cover topics on effective classroom management, music integration into the classroom, increasing student engagement through higher order questioning, implementing games that promote student engagement, promoting academic rigor while meeting the needs of all learners, and creating a climate and culture that promotes student success.

This experience will provide me with the opportunity to learn powerful techniques that will strengthen my students' emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development from top-quality teachers. My goal is to teach in ways that further promote creativity, innovation, wonder, and a passion for learning. RCA will help me achieve these goals and the most important part of this experience is that I can improve not only my own classroom, but share it with my colleagues to increase the success rate of our student body as a whole. Additionally, I will add to my professional network by meeting and exchanging ideas with educators from around the globe that I can connect with long after the conference.
