This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a NYC Kindergarten Special Education Teacher. We launched a new Math program called Illustrative Mathematics. This program promotes student engagement though discussions and partner work. Students are expected to explore mathematical strategies and concepts during centers (stations) as a reinforcement of what was taught during whole group instruction. Most of the centers we work on in our classroom requires color ink. Some of the centers include colorful math stories that represents quantities such as Less, Fewer, More, the Same. As well as colorful two-colored counters and connections cubes as visuals so they can play certain games to represent ways to make 10. Providing color ink, I will be able to print the materials my students need for their centers. Students will be able to learn and become fully engaged in these centers. Please help brighten up our math centers with color ink!
