Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school love coming to school and they are super excited to be back in the building after two years of remote and hybrid learning

This year, many of our students spend their lunch periods wearing mask, bored, and fatigued from the day.

Every day they are faced with different obstacles within their communities; yet, they strive to overcome adversaries and work hard to one day achieve. I would like to create a place where they can play board games, card games, and the games every childhood should be filled with.

A staggering 78% of our students are economically disadvantaged, face homelessness, and are exposed to violence and crime within their communities.

Though their environments are not ideal and the resources within our school are limited, our students work hard to ensure that they achieve continual success.

Helping create this space for board games and other games can continue to illuminate another bright corner of our school community.

My Project

This past academic year has been such a transitional year for the students. The transition back into socializing with peers and interacting with others has been one that needs some support. With these board games and card games, students will make new friends, create healthy bonds with one another, and feel a sense of community that board games and card games create.

A student who enjoys their time in school is a student who can succeed in the classroom.

The long Winter months, the long cold and cold Spring months, and the rotation door of variants has made lunch a hard time for students. Please, help illuminate their recreational lunch time!
