This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a teacher in a large urban school system, my students come to school and give it "All They've Got!" Their enthusiasm, honesty and desire to learn are contagious. Many come from impoverished backgrounds but share a desire to learn and become productive, loving classmates. They want to be police officers, veterinarians, doctors, singers, and a few even want to be teachers.

Future authors and mathematicians have a variety of needs.

As part of a small K-8 school, our budget is always tight. Our working parents try to contribute as much as they can but money is always limited and goes only so far.

I want to provide my students with opportunities that would otherwise be denied to them. They deserve to have all the advantages that will enable them to become successful in whatever challenges they attempt in school and in life.

My Project

The Kindle tablets will be used to provide individualized instruction in the areas that students need remediation, review and reteaching in.

The Kindle Tablet center will be interactive, supportive and the most sought after rotation in the first grade.

My school has limited technology available to us so the tablets will fill a much needed void.

The flexibility of the tablets allows for constant re-adjusting as the needs of my students change. Watching them transition from struggling decoders to fluent readers is one of the most gratifying and exciting changes to witness. First Graders catching fire with the kindle fire.
