My Students

I have 20 students in my 3rd-grade classroom. Our class is very diverse. The school is very close to a military base so we are always getting new students. Our students come from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. 8 of mine come from bilingual backgrounds, where their home language is one other than English, and some come from families where English is the only language spoken in their home. 40% of the students at my school receive free or reduced lunch, and 40% of the students come from an ethnic background other than Caucasian/white.

In our classroom, we learn about life and the world around us.

My Project

The physical environment of the classroom is a major contributor to student performance and classroom lighting plays an important role. Proper lighting is not only essential for student performance, it is also an environmental factor that affects teacher performance as well. After spending hours under fluorescent lighting, students and faculty could be losing focus from visual fatigue caused by glare. The glare reflects off all surfaces and becomes even worse when working in front of a computer screen.

Reduce eyestrain and diffuse the harsh glare of fluorescent lighting.

Create a calming and pleasant learning atmosphere with filters designed to reduce the flicker and glare of fluorescent lights. A calming white filter can make a difference in addressing visual and light sensitivity.
