Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. We have a lovely new (6 years old) school with a Life Skills room. The Life Skills room has a washer and dryer. It also has a kitchen, but no stove. We use the microwave currently for cooking.

I would like to teach the kids how to wash, dry, fold and hang clothes on hangers and hang clothes on a clothesline.

I think that this is so important for their future independence, that one day some of them can take care of their needs independently.

I will be using the clothesline, detergent, and clothes hanging fixture to teach my AE students to wash, fold and hang clothes. The recipe book is to teach cooking, following a recipe, measuring, etc. The book on cleaning their room is to read to them to support them on how to clean their home and personal space.
