My Project

I teach a middle school life skills special education class. My students have severe disabilities and need explicit instruction to learn everyday life skills. I would like to give them the opportunity to learn life skills, such as organizing silverware, folding shirt, folding socks, etc. The more experience and practice they have, the more likely they will generalize the skill and apply it to other areas of their life. I would also like to teach them about jobs they could obtain when they are older, such as a mail deliverer, or collecting materials to be recycled.

These items requested are to be used to create life skills bins that students can use to do and fold laundry, do the dishes, deliver mail to other teachers, collect and shred papers.

Life skills lessons excite my students and help them get involved in the school. Completing jobs around the school will help other school staff and students get to know my students. This will benefit the school culture and promote inclusion.
